On the 12 of Jan, 2017 Helping Hands Malaysia organized the Back to School Program,  at Appar Tamil Primary School where 90 students were given vouchers to buy school essentials. The students will be able to buy books, shoes and uniforms for this year.

Datin Sri Vasanthi Ramachandran President of Helping Hands, encouraged the students to read English books to improve their English Language communication skills. She asked the children to buy a story book each, and leave it the school library. In that way there will be 90 books which will be accessible for each child to borrow, read and return.

The teachers said that most children were unable to pay their school fees and even buy notebooks for their daily lessons.  It was about RM150, per person and appealed for sponsorship for each child.

While talking to the children, it was learnt that many school children did not go to school because the school bus came very early, at 5.30am in the morning and they were unable to make it.

“The school bus driver says that he has to go very early to make a few trips in different areas and thus has to drop the first batch before, 6am.”

If anyone wants help in giving tuition for these children, or help fund the children for RM150 each child (school fees etc only once) or help in funding their transport to school for about RM50 per month, please call Rekha at 016-6652074 or Chandra at 012-4444851.
